I have an almost 6 year old Rottweiler Mix. I rescued her 3 years ago. We lived in a house where she was able to go use the backyard whenever she wanted to go potty. I always thought it was a cute quirk that she would only ever poop in the bushes/behind trees, where she was completely covered. At first I thought she was just being modest lol but she’s obviously anxious about being in such a vulnerable state that she feels she has to hide to do it.
Then I got married and moved in with my husband to an apartment where I discovered she wouldn’t poop on a leash. She eventually was able to, after what seemed like trying everything on the internet. Including giving treats after every time she did her business. But that would mean she would actually have to poop to get the treat.
I work at a vet clinic and she comes with me almost daily and will poop an extreme amount while she’s there. I feel so bad for the boarding techs!!
My husband and I just got a new house with a yard and a partial fence. We live on a busy road so we still take her out on a leash to go potty. Which I didn’t think would be an issue, since she’s done it plenty of times before at this point. Between the cars driving by, the dog across the street barking, and the anxiety she already has with pooping exposed and on a leash, she literally hasn’t pooped for 2 DAYS. I let her out very frequently. But nothing. I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I’m about to lose my mind. I don’t want her to be uncomfortable or get sick because she just won’t poop.
PLEASE. I will try anything. Someone please tell me how to get my dog to poop on a leash.
