Im wondering if anyone else has navigated this situation before and has advice. I'll try to keep it brief:
Cat shows up on my porch, hungry. I feed it, sleeps on my porch few nights. I have a pet ID scanner, it is chipped. Pet ID search says registered to HomeAgain, but info hasn't been updated for over a year. I call HomeAgain to report it found, give them all my contact info so owners can contact me. After a few days HomeAgain says there's no response at all from the registered owners. Cat starts coming inside (I let out during the day, trap in at night). I post on PawBoost and local sites reporting found, but no claims. I look at all lost ads, but no match. I decide to fully adopt, take to vet several times, register with my city --- last thing to-do is get the cat's chip registered to me.
I call HomeAgain and put in the transfer request. They say no problem, 1--2 weeks. No update after 2 weeks, so I call back. They say it now takes 3--4 weeks. I call back today (4 week mark) and am told that the 'transfer was denied by the primary contact'. They won't give me any more information, at all. They can't answer why there's no information from the previous owners except to deny the request. They say I need a court order to have it changed, and that's all they'll say.
What can I do to get this updated? What would I even do to get a court order?
Thanks in advance.
