We adopted 2 kittens last Sunday, hurray! They had about 2 poops a day which weren't very solid. Normal thing, our first cat had issues when she first came home, new diet and stressful new environment. One of the kittens did have really bad gas. Wednesday that kitten with bad gas started having diarrhea now 5-6 times and vomiting so I tried to get their appointments sooner, Friday instead of the following Monday. What concerned us was that now the poor kitty was having the squirts and if it was more solid diarrhea it was a little mucousy and white. These seem to be things of huge concern when looking online... but at least now vomiting had subsided.
Due to COVID I couldn't be with the kittens during the checkup. All they reccomended was to give gastro food to the one kitten and add benefiber. They said it's probably just all the stress and a new diet. We are deworming them a second time just to be sure. Now the second kitten whose poop was firming up is getting the squirts. Is this all normal??? I really feel like the vet was not listening to our concerns due to me not being able to fully communicate due to COVID restricrions. The kitten who was sick first has been difficult in getting him to eat and he is now becoming tired very quickly. We can't even pick him up without him squirting poop on us. His poor bum is so raw and sore. First sick kitten stopped using the litter box and now that the second kitten is getting diarrhea again she has stopped using the litter box as well. The gastro food and fiber has only seemed to slightly improve the diarrhea 1 and a half days in.
They said they would check back with us on Monday because they close on the weekends. I just feel like this isn't quite normal. How do I communicate with the vet and make them understand something just doesn't seem right? Does anyone have any other advice for extreme diarrhea? We just want our babies to feel better.
Edit: We were told all the kitties in a cage together were fostered together or siblings. Found out the two we got were not fostered together, so it is possible one kitten had something and the other didn't.
