Now, I understand kittens play a lot, and that’s how they are. I have a 12 week old kitten who I just adopted, they’re a siamese mix. They literally don’t stop playing. I’ll spend an hour in the morning, at lunch, after work, and before bed running him around with a wand toy, throwing mice all over and having him pounce on them. He seemingly doesn’t get tired. I work from home, and he’s an amazing kitten, but when he wants to play, he gets super rough, and never stops playing. He will get tired, eat some food (I leave a dish filled) and then relax for 10 minutes ready to go again.
If I stop playing with him, he will simply follow me, jump on anything near me to get my attention, and even start play attacking my legs or lap or back or ankles to get my attention. I’ve tried the whole “Say ‘Ow’” thing, but Ow loudly doesn’t even make him stop when he’s doing that.
I’ve resorted to having to lock him outside of my room when he gets too rowdy so I can keep working, and I ask have to lock him out of my room at night so I can sleep. It feels wrong though, and I know there’s got to be a better way. I check on him every 15-20 minutes to see if he’s calm during work hours, but it feels wrong since he always seems so scared. He just sees me then rolls around all over me purring and pawing at me. I really don’t want my poor little guy growing up being aggressive, but I need to be able to work from home for reasonable lengths of time, and I need to be able to sleep.
