Hello! We're planning to move houses in a few months time (next month or two), and I'm planning on adopting a feral / stray cat I've been feeding for about a month now.
Some background: This cat is probably less than a year old. Their mother gave birth to the litter in our garden because we have two outdoor dogs and they feed off the leftovers. Only two of them remain now, the others never made it past a few months. I've only started paying attention to them recently and decided to feed the cats. One is insanely shy, but I think I gained the calico's trust - even lets me pet her stomach when she's lying down (she's also more socialized with our dogs than other feral cats roaming around). We haven't tried bringing her indoors yet but we caught her inside once when we left the front door open. I'm still trying to gain the trust of the other one but everyone in my family is still not too keen on the idea of a house cat, so maybe one is enough for now.
Do you think it's a good idea bringing this cat with us and trying to convert her to an indoor cat? If so, what's the best way to prepare, besides bringing her to a vet before taking her home with us? Thanks for the advice in advance, really excited about having her as my first cat.
