I'm hoping somebody here can help me because I am at a complete loss and don't know what to do anymore.
My cat has never been keen on peeing in the litter box. She poops in it no problem but she's very fussy about the litter or something (I've tried multiple, its just that she prefers peeing on flat surfaces). She had taken to peeing in the bathtub, which I really had no problem with. Sure, its a little gross, but its easy to clean, its contained so I don't accidentally step on it, and it doesn't damage the tub at all. Felt like a fair compromise.
Well a little over a month ago my cat got a UTI. I took her to the vet and got her treated but she started peeing on the floor wherever she felt like, and I wasn't getting mad at her/really correcting her behavior for it because she was ya know hurting, but the infection is long gone and she hasn't stopped. I've cleaned up all her usual spots with special cleaner and put down pee pads for her to go on because its always the same places, but I can't live like this anymore. I only have a studio and I have 5 different pee pads out right now, and one of them is right in front of my door. I have to move it when I go to work and then come home to a puddle that I have to mop up every day. I feel like it always stinks in here now and I'm embarrassed to bring friends over.
it might be worth noting that around the same time this started I got called back into work so she could be trying to punish me for suddenly being around less. I don't know. She's been known to be a little vindictive.
She still pees in the tub sometimes and when I find her doing it I give her treats but so far she hasn't made the connection.
