My cat has started becoming aggressive towards me, what should I do?

Hi all, I wasn’t exactly sure where to post this but I figured this may be the place.

Four years ago my boyfriend and I rescued a 2-year-old female tabby cat. She was very sweet and affectionate cat towards both of us. We have no other pets and aren’t in frequent contact with other animals.

About a year ago my cat started to have on-and-off aggression towards me which got more frequent over time. She would just run across the room and start attacking me out of nowhere. Or aggressively attack me in my sleep. My boyfriend would have to pick her up and put her in another room (she wouldn’t attack him). Then she will calm down and be super sweet to me and curl up in my lap. At first this happened like once a month and now it’s close to a daily thing.

I will be fast asleep and she will come up and bite me HARD in the middle of the night. I’m really getting to the point where I feel uncomfortable in my own house and I’m nervous when she is near me. She shows no aggressive behavior towards my boyfriend. She seems to be completely healthy otherwise, and I can’t think of any major changes that have happened in the past year to cause this.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause or how I can fix this? I’ve looked on the internet and can’t seem to find any behavioral problems that are similar to what she does.
