I adopted the sweetest dog about 18 months ago and love him to pieces but once I brought him home I realised that he must have had a rough start. He really struggles being around men and shows all the signs he was abused by one in his past life.
My dad died a month ago and I reverted back to smoking to deal with some of the stress. My pup had never been around me smoking before. Unfortunately my smoking seems to trigger something because he refuses to come outside when I’m doing it. I feel bad and am working on quitting again for the sake of both of us.
Has anyone else’s experienced this, where you find a smell triggers a sort of PTSD in your pet?
