Relocating stray kittens

We live out in the country, and found newborn kittens along our property. Mama kitty and kittens all looks healthy- my guess is that they are a day or two old.

The nest is not in a safe place- it is close to the road, and out in the woods. Mama kitty is friendly, and sometimes hangs out on my porch, comes up for petting, eats catfood we put out. We would like to relocate the litter to our garage, where the kittens are safe and we can keep an eye on them until they're grown (and then find them homes and get mama fixed).

How can I best move the kittens, where it is safe for them, and mama kitty is least likely to move them back lut into the woods? Any tips on making sure they stay in the garage, and don't get moved back outside?
