There is a black and white cat that has been coming into our backyard every single night for the last couple weeks, meowing all night long, and waking my girlfriend and I up multiple times in the process every time.
Our fence with a neighbour blew down in a storm at the start of May, and was only replaced a couple of weeks ago. While it was down, we would sometimes see this cat coming into our backyard. Our own cat made sure that the other kitty knew it wasn't their territory and kept it out. But now that the fence is back up, and it has been cold and rainy most of the time, our cat has been staying inside and only wants to go out for a few minutes a day.
Every night without fail, this cat (who we think belongs to the neighbour with whom we shared the blown down fence, but are no longer sure because they never bring it in at night) will sit in our backyard meowing and pissing everywhere. Every time I hear it meow before we go to sleep I will open the back door to scare it off, but it will run away before I get the chance, only to come back ten minutes later.
To top things off it leaves dirty paw prints all over my partner and I's cars. I've tried spraying water mixed with an assortment of essential oils that I thought would be offensive to a cat's nose around the cars, over the top of the fences it climbs over, and the backyard, but it hasn't worked.
I'm at my wits end with this cat, I'm seriously ready to start shooting it with a Nerf gun if I can get a clear shot.
Any ideas on how to make this fucker go away?
