I love animals and have been very lucky in my life so far to have had the chance to share my life with some real characters over the years. One little cat which has touched my heart is my little Dinky Dolly. Dolly passed away really suddenly about 2 weeks ago now, literally one minute she was playing and making her cute little trill sounds and the next she just made this awful meow, I'll never forget that sound and just died. To say I'm broken by the loss is an understatement. She would of been 4 at the end of this month. So Dolly leaves a step sister behind our other cat Elsie. A week after Dolly passed I was led in bed watching Netflix on my phone til about midnight. When I stopped watching my programme I tried to go to sleep but ended up crying for a while. My Fiancé woke up and gave me a cuddle and then I finally fell asleep. At around 3am I woke up to go to the toilet. As I came out of the loo to go back to the bedroom Elsie shot across the landing and stopped by our open bedroom door. 'jesus Else you made me jump, come on then come in here with us' I patted our bed and said 'come on else I'm tired, up up' I looked at her and her tail was swishing and I saw her look up at me. One last attempt to get her to come up on the bed I said, 'come on else' and bent down to scratch her chin. As I did my hand went straight through and touched the carpet. The shadow of the cat I'd been talking to and assumed was Elsie just vanished. I was so shocked I did a really quick. Sharp intake of breath. My Fiancé woke and said 'what's the matter?' I replied ' I think I just saw Dolly' he groaned and went back to sleep. But I stood there all of my hairs on end and heart racing. As I stood there going over what I'd just seen I could hear Elsie snoring downstairs. The cat I'd seen run across the hallway and by our bedroom door was my beautiful Dolly come to visit me. I was freaked out but not in a frightened way. Since then I have felt a comfort from the visit.
Has anyone else had a similar pet visit? I would love to hear them. I am totally buzzing from my experience. When I think back to the shadow I was talking to the tail was upright. Where as Elsie's tail sort of curls right over to touch her back. Dolly's always was more upright.
I also had a dream last night about Dolly but I'll put that in a separate post.
