I come from a home with five dogs, so I'm an experienced dog owner but I'm new to owning everything else.
I'm going to be moving in the coming year to an apartment. As much as I would love to take my dog with me, sadly that doesn't seem feasible.
So, assuming I move into a pet friendly apartment, (I don't even know that much yet, this is kind of a hypothetical that will help me make decisions down the road,) I want to make the right decisions so both me and my new little friend are happiest and live our best lives together.
Not opposed to getting another dog, but they can be emotionally needy. I would like something more independent. I am down to play with my pet, don't get me wrong, but they also need to be cool with me working both outside of my home and as a content creator.
I would love a pet that is great with hanging out in my lap or on my computer desk. I considered a toad for this reason as I have a bunch of wild toads on my current property that I handle all the time. turns out they don't like to be handled and it's not very good for them. So maybe that eliminates them as a desk friend? Now I'm thinking a snake would be a better choice. Of course cats are a great contender; small, independent, cuddly, friendly, friend to the internet, a good mouser just like my current dog.
I'm open to nontraditional, not-so-cuddly pets, if that wasn't clear. snakes, amphibians, tarantulas, rodents, you name it. I'm a friend to all living things, I'm only eliminating based on what I'm capable of taking care of.
