Who to Adopt: Disabled Dog or Homeless Young Pup? Anyone with experience with special needs dogs?

Hi!

So I’ve decided to finally add to my family of 2 cats and 1 dog and adopt a new one. I contacted a local shelter and the choice is down to 2 pups.

One is an 8-month old pup rescued from a volcanic disaster earlier in the year.

The other is a 3-4 year girl whose hind legs don’t work after she was a victim of a hit and run. She’s not the type of dog whose bladder you have to stimulate, and she gets around fine if the floor is smooth enough. For outside walks she has a wheelchair

Now I’m just deciding who to take?

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my girlfriend and the condo can handle one more dog. The cats love dogs and are buds with our one other dog. Though since the cat is young (1.5 years old) my other dog (turning 5) cant always keep up with the playtime.

I take the dog for 2-3 walks a day so exercise and peeing isn’t a problem

My worry with the disabled dog is I’m not sure I can handle it? Well the pooping and peeing anyways, since she can’t poop and pee in her wheelchair. And we don’t have a yard that’d be ideal for her to have a “spot” in. Or we can look into a kind of big doggy litter box? Or I dunno. Anyone with experience? Or suggestions?

Or for the condo life, would the puppy, who seems to be sweet and energetic, be more apt?

They’re both in need, that’s for sure.

I’m still supposed to meet em at the shelter to see who I connected with, but I’d love for thoughts/opinions/suggestions as well.

Thanks!
