Hello,
I have a 5-6 year old orange tabby, female. She’s always hovered around 8-9 pounds and been pretty slender.
She threw up the other day repeatedly for like 30 minutes until something foreign came up, then she stopped puking.
Since then I’ve been keeping a closer eye on her and I’ve noticed she seems heavier than normal and her belly feels full or stiff.
I weighed her today and she weighs 11 pounds which is significantly higher than I’ve ever seen her weigh.
The last time I weighed her couldn’t have been more than 3 weeks ago and she was 9 lbs.
Sudden weight gain seems like it could be problematic, and the noticeable belly kind of causes concern. (Potentially worms? Another issue?) I’m kind of a hypochondriac when it comes to the cat so I’m trying to talk myself out of unnecessary worry and a potential expensive vet visit where they charge me hundreds of dollars and then say “she seems fine”.
It’s worth noting that she’s an absolute terror at the vet and has to essentially be sedated or else she’ll claw the vets. It’s an ordeal for her, myself and the vets when I bring her in.
Anyone know of any potentially time sensitive health issues I should be aware of?
