Hi, so I adopted a new cat, a shy guy named Sweet (5 months, male, neutered) and i have him in a room all to himself with one hiding place, as I was adding a cat tree to his room my very curious resident cat Sybil (2, female, spayed) zoomed into the room with Sweet. Sybil hissed and growled (first time i've heard her do either) and swatted the air a foot away from Sweet but didn't connect as she was far away.
I removed her, and since then Sweet came out of his hiding spot and became the most affectionate cat I have ever seen, though that could have been the feliaway kicking in. Sybil also didn't hold any of this against me, and was more affectionate than usual once I came out of Sweet's basecamp. Now Sybil seems practically glued to the floor outside the door to Sweet's room, calm as can be, and will leave if I bring out her fav toy.
I was wondering of their seeing each other may have caused some irreparable damage? As I know they are not supposed to have visual contact this early, and is Sybil's interest in watching the door a good or bad thing (as I said she is very curious, when I got her she was immediately confident, and is all around a really calm cat). I really love this new guy already, and I plan to follow the Jackson Galaxy method going forward, but I wasn't sure if this error on my part was enough to ruin it?
