Newly adopted cat won’t stop howling at my resident cat?

As the title says, I adopted a male cat a week ago. He will not stop howling at my female cat. Any idea as to why he’s doing this ? Or if he’ll stop? They are getting along pretty well, no fights. But the howling is driving me crazy, not gonna lie 😩
