Outdoor cat coming inside, safe or nah?

My family have two cats, one of which is very fond of me. They live outside, as my mother does not like animals at all. I’m not sure why they got cats, we live in a rural area and i’ve been told it’s because they keep mice/rats away...

Anyway, they sleep/live in our brick-built garage detached from our house, with the window left open so they can roam freely and return to eat/sleep when they please. As I said, one is very fond of me and I know it’s because i feed her and I will always look for her to show her love (petting, playing) when i’m outside.

My question is, is it safe to allow her into my bedroom?

Since Christmas I have been at home and let her in through my window and she loves it. She will sleep on my bed for hours while i’m playing video games or reading and honestly I love the company. I recently got a really bad kidney infection (which are uncommon for boys) and was very ill, and my mother was scolding me for allowing the cat into my room and saying I could have picked something up from her. She has been neutered and been to a vet a couple of times throughout the years (for worms, a cut on her neck, etc). Is it safe for me to let her into my room?

I feel so guilty when she meows at my window and I know she wants to come in and chill.
