Hey everyone, my family’s chihuahua has never gotten much exercise of the course of around 5 years that we’ve had him, life can get busy and a lot of the time he spends in his bed without anyone around. I want to spend more time with him and get him up and about, he has shown in the past that he is very resistant when it comes to walking.
Whenever I put him on a leash, he tugs on it and tries to yank away, usually causing bruising around his neck. He used to be a wild dog that was captured and brought to the pound, he had an electric shock collar that would activate when he barked during the entire trip we were told and I think is the primary cause of him acting like this. I just don’t know what would be best for him, because as great as going on walks would be for him, I don’t want to harm him, are there any practices I can take to make him more comfortable? What do you all think would be the best approach? Thanks so much.
