My family and I want to adopt a cat, unfortunately just one, and not two. My family and I grew up with cats, but took a break to take time to heal after our last cat passed some years ago. But now we’re ready to adopt again. There’s two cats my family is open to: First cat is named Blaine, 7 years old, described as a shy snuggle bug, and is an animal cruelty survivor. Second cat is Felix, 8!months, also shy. My family and I went to see them today at the shelter, and Blaine was curled up in the corner of his room, very shy, but let us pet him. He had a dazed look, like very clearly been through some traumatic experiences (obviously as he is an animal cruelty survivor) but wouldn’t move or react much else. Felix was shy too but let us hold him, purred and kneaded and let us pet his tummy and snuggled and was very cuddly. I’m torn between the two. They are both shy, but Felix was very much more open. But Blaine deserves a loving home, and maybe with some time and TLC he would be more open and loving too. I mean he’s in a shelter and has been through hardships, he’s not going to be all cuddly and purring to just anyone who comes in... so that’s my dilemma. I know I can’t save every cat, but between these two, which would be best? They have both been at the shelter since October, both get along with other cats. They’re both essentially the same except one is older and is an animal cruelty survivor. I’m leaning more towards Felix but who will adopt Blaine if not us? As Blaine deserves a loving home as much as Felix. I have no idea what to do. Or maybe we could adopt both after all? Someone please advise...
