How Long Can You Leave A New Cat Home Alone?

I just adopted an adult cat (she's two years old) last weekend, and plan on being gone most of this weekend both Saturday and Sunday, although no overnight trips anywhere. Is this too soon to leave her alone all day long until the evening?

Also, I will be taking a few road trips in the weeks/months ahead. I expect I will be gone about 3 or 4 days and nights for each one. I purchased an automatic feeding and watering system for my kitty for when that time comes, and plan on leaving an extra food and water bowl out as well just in case. May also have someone come in and check on her once while I'm away.

I'm just new to owning a cat and want to make sure she'll be okay on her own for a few days and won't freak out since I just adopted her. She seems to be adjusting well but she does like to be near me most of the time throughout the day, and I'm a little worried she will get separation anxiety if I leave her for awhile.
