Hi everyone,
My partner and I have just taken in an 8 week old kitten and he's super adorable and cute but he won't go to sleep without someone by his side. We have another cat so we're doing the whole separate room thing until they both adapt to each others scent, and we can't let him sleep in our room because we have computers in there and there's wires everywhere so we just keep the bedroom door closed.
We play with him for a few hours, give him some wet food and then he's clearly yawning and tired, but after he falls asleep in our arms and we put him down, he wakes up and cries and cries until we coddle him asleep again. I get he might be codependent but we can't leave him alone for a second! And we really don't want him to develop this habit as he gets older.
It takes about 3 hours of play, 1 hour of eating/settle down time, and then another hour of him in our lap until he falls asleep. I don't mind spending the time with him and I don't want him to have abandonment issues, but I'm hearing meows everywhere I go now..
Any tips?
