I've always wanted a pet and now can afford one. I found a cute cat I wanted to adopt but when I messaged the agency they said they require references. I've never owned a pet before. :( My questions are:
- Is there any way to get around this? Can I contact a local vet that I plan to use, tell them I'm going to be adopting and ask them to serve as a reference? Would I have to then pay for this appointment with the vet?
- If I am approved to adopt, do I need to pick up the cat right away or can I "hold" the cat for a few weeks until I am back in town?
Thank you for clearing up my questions!
