Checking stray cat for microchip - 7 years later?

Sorry if this is not the right subreddit. So I have had a cat in my family for the past 7 years, she came to our porch on a stormy night and was rather friendly. The next few days she hung around much more so my family took her in as a inside/outside cat. We've moved a few times and taken her with us in the moves.

Last year I became an adult, moved out, and "inherited" all my family pets. Now I am planning to take our dogs to get updated vaccines for apartment requirements and this cat hopefully to get her vaccinated but also to scan for a microchip, since my parents never did for many years. My question is if they find a microchip will I face some repercussions since it has been so long? If so, what do I do?
