Quick question about cat hygiene

I live in Florida and have battled fleas with my young cats for about 3 months. It’s finally under control now.

They seem to be used to the almost daily brushing with the flea comb and warm soapy water. They will lead me to the bathroom and hop up on the counter and sit down by the sink, so I can tell they want some “brushy brushy” (lol don’t judge me).

I’ve never tried to give them a bath before, like fully submerge them and get them wet. I have tried the waterless bath, which is essentially foam that soaks in and you rub them dry with a towel. They definitely hated every second of that.

So is fully bathing them like that really necessary? They’re indoor cats anyway, so is just regularly brushing them with soap and water effective enough? They will let me brush them anywhere, and I think they like it because it’s warm and they don’t get soaked, just a little damp to where their fur is spiky.
