Hi all,
My husband found a kitten abandoned in the street, and we took him home with us. Because we already have one adult cat, we kept the kitten secured in the bathroom (along with the requisite food, water, bed, a heating pad, plenty of toys, and a litter box). We're planning to call the vet in the morning to get him checked out and vaccinated and all that good stuff, but in the meantime we've noticed that the kitten has a few fleas crawling about him. I spotted at least two adult fleas.
Now, I've had to suffer through the unfortunate horror of a flea infestation before at a previous house, so I wanted to get your guys' thoughts -- Should we go into Defcon 1 (i.e. start purchasing flea sprays, clean and sterilize the entire house, etc.) or do you think that the flea problem will likely be localized to the bathroom? We're planning to give our adult cat a flea spot treatment just in case, along with whatever flea treatment the vet recommends for the kitten, and I'll be washing everything in the bathroom.
Thanks in advance!
