kitten food that tastes similar to purina?

a couple of months ago, my parents cat had a litter of kittens. last week i adopted one of these kittens, and he's a beautiful orange tabby named Cheese-Wiz. my parents have been feeding the kittens purina kitten chow, and Cheese-Wiz LOVES the taste of it. so much so that he won't eat any other dry food unless i mix it with wet food. the problem is that i've read a lot of articles about how poor quality purina pet food is, and i only want to give the very best food to Cheese-Wiz.

is there another type of kitten food that has a similar taste to purina kitten chow but is better for kittens (less carbs, no animal by-products, etc)? or even a better kitten food brand that kittens tend to like the flavor of? he loves wet food but i can't feed him only wet food because he gets the runs.
