My 1 yo Australian Shepherd has been aggressive over his food these past few weeks. He is not neutered yet but is scheduled to be at the end of August.
Currently, I'm watching my ex-husband's 2 older dogs we shared when we were married. Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances I am unable to keep them permanently.
Oreo, is an 8 yo Akita. Jake, is a 7 yo Boxer/Pug mix. Both are fixed.
Since bringing them in the house yesterday, Bernie (the Aussie), has been very aggressive towards me. He constantly growls if I try to pet him and won't come to me if I call him. If I try to call him he will either ignore me or go to his kennel. He refuses to have anything to do with me.
Bernie has been getting along fairly well with the other dogs and they have been playing on and off.
I've tried showing him extra attention and affection so he doesn't feel like he's being left out but that doesn't seem to help. I've tried giving him treats but he will take it and then immediately growl at me.
Is this normal jealousy behaviour? Is he acting this way because of the other dogs and with him not being neutered? I'm at a loss of what to do or why he is being so ill mannered towards me. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
