I'm (hopefully) getting my very first dog in this upcoming month! I've never had pets growing up, but have always wanted and loved dogs. (dad is super OCD clean freak). I've been living on my own with the boyfriend for a few years now. He has had a dog when he was younger, and ran a small cat shelter in his mom's house when he lived there. Right now we have 4 cats. But I know cats are MUCH different from dogs in terms on care, training, etc.
I'm looking to get an Australian Shepherd as an emotional support dog. My doctor filled out all my paperwork etc to allow me to bring him/her in public.
What are some tips you would give first time dog owners? Things you need when you bring the pup home? Best food, best food dishes, leash, harness, etc! Tips to get him/her antiquated with your other pets (specifically cats). Or just any good resources you can think of!
TIA!
