Greetings,
I have four dachshunds. Dogs wise: the mother, father, and their two girls. The rest we're given to friends etc. House wise: I live with my father and his girlfriend. The dogs are technically the girl friends, but we all love them. We've had them for over a decade or so. So we all work different schedules so we have decided to use a PeePee pad for when we aren't around to let them out. But the PeePee pad has been a nightmare in my life for several years now. I wanted to ask if anyone had any suggestions because I'm at my wits end?

We take all of our dogs out into the our gated yard frequently. Maybe every two or three hours or when someone gets home. We've noticed the dogs get overly excited when we get home and sometimes they pee on the floor. But the dogs are super sneaky about it and show signs they messed up. For instance, we have only caught one dog doing this once in the past few months. Yet, all of our dogs seem "potty trained" when we are around. They know where they're supposed to go to the restroom and attempt to use the pee pad or in the grass. But sometimes they leave their butts off the pad and the pee is destroying our floor. The pee is under the floor. When you step on a tile, the urine squirts out and gets on our socks.... So gross.... Not to say we don't have intermittent issues with them peeing on rugs or on the floor though. It seems to happen more at night. I've tried leaving a light on just for the pad and that hasn't helped.
I'm really at a loss. We go through mop heads, paper towels, and pads like water. Our house smells of urine. There is no other spot in the house for the pee pad and not a lot of space to add a raised pad they would have to step up onto. The flooring is only 2 years old. But we are currently planning on redoing it with a water proof solutions. Please if you have an suggestions I would greatly appreciate them!?
