I didn't know enough to not play with my cat using my hands when she was little so now she's an adult cat that plays roughly with me (scratches and bites). Personally, I don't mind. I keep her claws clipped so they're not really an issue and she refrains from biting too hard. I'm willing to put up with it and indulge her since it is my fault she plays like this and I don't mind my hand always looking a little mangled.
She's never around children and I rarely have visitors (even then she's skittish so she hides) so I'm not worried about her hurting anyone else.
My friend saw me playing with her the other day and said I shouldn't be doing it since I'm aggravating her and making her violent? I wait for her to instigate a play session so I don't think I'm aggravating her and I back off when she decides she's had enough. It's mainly a way of tiring her out before bed since she ignores any toys I buy for her.
Anyway, I'm willing to accept that I may be wrong so I'd be glad to hear any other opinions.
