normal? Kitten annoying our senior cat

Our resident 12 year old male recently acquired a new sister, a 3 month old female. We did the slow introduction through scent and visual etc... And they're at supervised sessions right now (it's been 2 weeks). My male cat doesn't give a crap 🤣 no agression, he's huge compared to her. He usually just looks at her and walks away. But the kitty has been following him around trying to sniff his tail, and occasionally hisses at him from behind. My older cat just walked away until he eventually goes outside (where she can't go) Is this normal behavior for the first few weeks? I'm assuming she's just trying to figure out her place in the household. He doesn't see her as a threat obviously, he doesn't show any agressive signs when she's hissing at him. She's been hissing less than she was a few days ago. Anyone else experience this?
