Puppy starts biting out of the blue while walking him

Hi guys,

My soon 4 months old puppy suddenly becomes aggressive a few times a day while walking him.

He acts totally normal and suddenly jumps up on me, biting and growling and going completely nuts. It always happens out of the blue and rn happens every day. (Some weeks ago it just happened about once or twice a week)

When he starts acting like that I put the rope in his mouth and he bites into it instead of me, then I just go home as quickly as I can, completely ignoring him. Most of the time the behavior immediately stops when we arrive inside our house.

Idk what that kind of behavior means and how to prevent it. Some days ago I drove with him to a lake so he can try swimming for the first time. Just after a few minutes he became totally aggressive again and after cooling down it happened again, so I left after 10 minutes with him. Back in the car he was totally tired, behaved well and fell asleep..

Is it possible that he does that when he is overwhelmed or tired? But what can I do to teach him another way of showing that?

I would really appreciate your help understanding what I'm doing wrong and what his behavior means!
