9-month old pet cat was diagnosed with distemper. Was sent home after a day of confinement. Will my cat fully recover?

Last Saturday, my 9 month old cat was diagnosed with distemper. He was confined at the vet’s clinic for an entire day where he was given IV fluids and medications. He also had a blood test that showed nothing significant except high WBC’s. He has no kidney issues, thank goodness.

The following morning, the vet gave the green light to bring him home as he was responding to the meds and he has regained some of this strength back although he was eating little only.

He’s been home for 2 days. He’s pretty weak and he’s eating very little. He hasn’t moved much and only stays on his pillow all the time. I put a water basin beside him but I don’t think he’s been drinking much. His vet gave him a food supplement and he loves that. Also, I caught him trying to jump from my bed to the table and he didn’t make it. He just fell flat and it broke my heart to see him that way.

My question is, will he recover as the days go by? Do I have to bring him back to the vet? Any advice as to what I can to help my furry baby?
