I've been dealing with a flea problem for about 4-5 weeks+, it started as a minor issue, none noticeably in the house or jumping on us but clearly on the cat, so we gave him the usual front line monthly treatment (which has worked many times in the past with no issue and fairly quickly)
but this time it has turned into a shit show.
the fleas started to dig into the carpet, were extremely noticeable and an issue in 3 rooms in the house (my bed room/family room/office room)
I've been treating the carpet all throughout the house with DE for the last month constantly letting it sit for 1+ day and vacuuming it up.
I've washed all my linens and closed 3+ times over
Gave the cat multiple scrub downs with a little bit of blue dawn dish soap and water
Put a light coat of DE on the cats body
Used some spray around the doors and entrances of the house as well as used DE in the yard and around the house
(took as many precautions as I know, changed vacumm bags, didn't leave cloths hanging around etc)
after each treatment of DE the flea issue noticeably decreased, but within a couple of days they always came back the same or worse even)
all during this time I could visibly still see fleas ON my cat, even after all the treatments, baths, etc.
Until recently I gave my cat a flea pill and put another layer of DE all through the house and let it sit 3 full days this time before vacuuming it up.
During these 3 days I secluded my cat to a single (large room) in the house that has no furniture or carpeting at the moment just his food/water, cat box, a desk and couple chairs, as well as some toys and what not for him.
Since this I cannot see ANY fleas moving on him, where previously I could see one within 30 seconds of looking every time.
I also noticed 0 fleas jump on me or anyone in the house for 2 days +
but now 3 days removed from the last DE treatment I found 2 large fleas jump on my leg, as well as 1 small flea on my sock.
although I still see no living fleas on my cat, just small black specs (flea poop?)
can someone please give me some advice on what to do from here on out?
Is my cat safe from the fleas infesting him again, and will the fleas eventually just die off on their own since he's taken the flea pill + other precautions?
this is the most progress I've thus far in my tirade to get rid of these damn things and I don't want to mess it up/make it worse, and help would be appreciated.
