So me and my fiancee just packed up and left his old place in Oregon to drive back, to his parents place, in Florida. We got a kitten (now 5 months and 2 weeks old) from the Humane society 2 months ago and took her back with us but the problem is I had to go home to pay tuition to continue my schooling.
I left 3 weeks ago. Before I left I was primarily the one who primarily played with the kitten. For whatever reason my SO just can't get her interested right now and wasn't as able to back in Oregon either. I told him to try emulating prey behavior when playing (i.e. rustling and hide but peek out for a few seconds etc.). He says he's been trying and my advice isn't helpful. Their house has 3 dogs and the kitten has been and is continuing to be socialized and getting used to the dogs. She isn't allowed out of my SO's bedroom for her own safety (we don't trust one of the dogs who has nearly eaten one a hamster and bitten their puggle). Any tips to keep her interested?
Other potentially relevant info: She's often kept in a small room now as opposed to the studio apartment sized area she used to be in. I was also giving her daily or twice a day 2-3 mile shoulder rides in OR to socialize her with people. The daily walks have probably been cut down to once a week because florida is too hot and humid for him. The cat is semi-leash trained.
