Help With Stopping A Dog Barking

I have a 1-year-old Labrador Retriever. She's not the smartest and greatly enjoys ignoring commands that my parents give her, so it angers them. She barks throughout the day several times at seemingly nothing, and my parents are convinced they want to get her rehomed. I'm worried because this has happened before. They have rehomed several pets (in my memory, a rescue Staffie, Shih-Tzu, Pom-Chi, a Bull Mastiff and a British Shorthair cat).

I don't want them to get rid of another dog, because I know that dogs form a connection to their owners. Actually, she's more of my dog as I do the walking and playing with her, and I was going to try and take her in the future when I move out if I can afford it and they didn't mind. Although the barking is bothering me, I love animals too much and would never even consider rehoming her.

So, to avoid another poor animal's heart being broken, (and mine too, because honestly, I'm getting ready to tell them not to buy another animal because they obviously don't care about them) can somebody please tell me how to get her to stop barking? We've tried a collar that vibrates when she barks, but I won't allow any kind of shock collar. Also, she doesn't stop barking when she's simply told to be quiet either.

Thanks for any tips.
