Before anyone asks, no I am not abusing my cat on purpose.
I was playing with the dog while kitty was watching from a chair off to the side. I was using this rather small, dense ball (think rubber tennis ball) for fetch back and forth across the living room. I threw it over hand attempting to hit the back wall like the previous couple of throws, but I guess I have terrible hand eye coordination. Nailed my poor cat right in the face. And of course dog follows ball and in turn receives a face full of cat claws. She didn't seem to care, but she was bleeding a little so I feel really bad about that too.
I found the cat in one of his usual hiding spots, and his right eye was so puffy that it was half shut when the other one was open completely, and that I was pretty red. He wasn't mad at me, so I guess he blamed the dog for this mishap. It's been about 12 hours and the swelling has gone down solidly, though he's still a bit squinty.
I'm sure they will be fine, I just feel like a terrible pet owner not merely allowing my babies to get hurt, but actually being the cause of their injuried.
Gah why do I suck
