Saturday evening I went into my garage to discover a stray mother cat and three kittens who couldn't be over three weeks old at this point. I've been feeding them and socializing them and they've opened up a lot in the past few days. Up to this point I've been leaving a door to the garage cracked open for the mother to go out when she pleases. We're in a city and not a great area for stray cats to be around so I've decided to look into finding them all new homes and possibly keeping the mother once her kittens are old enough.
My problem is I'm heading for vacation tomorrow morning for three days, and since I've seen the kittens start walking around outside near the garage I'm worried for their safety. Would there be any downsides to shutting all of them in my garage until my return and I can sort out adoptions, etc? (They've got a lot of space to roam and I'll be sure to provide plenty of food and water, no extreme temperatures either).
