This morning I asked my mother for some money to go to the store to buy food for the kitten. I'm 15, for context. She immediately started saying that in order for her to do stuff for me, such as taking the cat to the vet and buying her food, I need to do more chores such as dishes, mopping, etc. The issue is: she was the one who randomly brought home a 5wk old kitten 2 weeks ago after she had given away my previous cat months ago for no valid reason and was not good at providing a decent home for him. Also, my 16 year old brother who dropped out of hs is the one who leaves most of the mess here and yet she never asks him to do anything around here.
Who do I get her to understand that caring for a kitten that she bought, as a fully grown adult, should not be dependent on whether her son who had no say in getting a cat does chores or not, especially when there's an older son that stays home all day doing nothing??
Or am I in the wrong?
