I introduced a new kitten to my 1.5 year old lab about a month ago. The kitty is about 3 months old now. They get along famously now after the introduction period. They aren’t aggressive or fearful towards each other. And they started playing occasionally, mostly my dog just nudging the cat around and the cat playfully pawing the dog or swiping at her. I’m not so worried about the kitty anymore watching them play because he can outrun my lab and he’ll just go hide in a nook or jump somewhere if she’s being a little too rough while playing. But now I’m a little worried about my dog because the kitty swipes at her face when they play and I’m worried his sharp claws might hurt her face or even her eyes. I’ve heard her yelp once or twice when he has hurt her inadvertently. Is this something I need to worry about or will they learn each other’s limits? They’re both super sweet animals and I love to see them play but I just want to make sure they will both be safe. Thanks for any advice!
