Hi all,
My 3 year old pitbull lab mix Rosie has a complete tear in her right ACL, a partial tear on her left, hip dysplasia and arthritis. The vet gave me an anti inflammatory for her, rimadyl, and she is on glucosamine supplement.
The vet said the sooner the better for surgery, specifically TPLO surgery. It is an extremely costly procedure and unfortunately I do not have pet insurance and it is not possible to get. I am in the process of getting a second opinion and estimate.
Is surgery necessary now or can she wait a year or a few? I understand the sooner it gets treated the better and less pain she will be in, but I simply do not have that amount. Has anyone chosen to not give the surgery - if so how did that impact the dog? Are medicine/supplements alone enough?
