I applied to volunteer for the local shelter! My options are dogs, cats, and kittens. Which should I choose?

I love playing with animals, and I particularly like getting touchy. From the videos I've seen, my guess is that the kittens would have the most of this since the dogs are probably just walked and regular cats (I assume) don't like to get touched much.

Socializing kittens seems like a really fun job and I'm leaning towards it.

Is there anything I should consider in making my decision? Anything that I should know before choosing the kittens? Is there anything that might make the other two better?

Also, what do roles in each category generally look like?

EDIT The shelter is NKLA Los Angeles.
