So I have a cat, who is coincidentally my ESA due to her affinity for cuddling, and I’ve had her for about 3 years at this point. She really is a sweetie and generally very calm cat. Every so often, though, she has a habit of randomly latching on and shredding my arm or hand. If I’m petting her. There are no warning signs of aggression, and she is very hard to make let go. There is no hissing, no ears back, tail raised, nothing. She just decides she wants blood. The people who had her before me often played with her using hands, and when I’m not home, the people I live with also use hands to play with her but she doesn’t latch onto them like she does to me, so I’m not sure if it’s her trying to play rough, or something else. Today she got me twice, pretty badly, and I just returned home from being away for two weeks at school. She’s pretty vindictive when she wants to be so maybe she’s trying to punish me? I’m not sure. (Wouldn’t put it past her though lol) Anyone else have this happen? How did you handle it? Any advice?
Edit: I don’t scold her too badly when she does this. I usually have to bop (like a heavy tap, I could never hit her hard) her on the head a bit to get her to let go and shove her away, coupled with the cold shoulder for a few hours. But I don’t beat her around or spray her anything major.
