New cat upsets old cat. Help!

Older calico (2 years) is the most playful chatty thing in the world. She makes all kinds of noises and talks to you all day. If you respond she will literally try to copy you and will let you roll her around any way you want even on her back to rub her belly all day. Totally docile loving and a goof ball. I've never seen her hostile towards anything. She loves all things...until today.

We recently adopted a siamese who's under a year and he's adorable and sweet. Has no desire to respond to her doesn't move doesn't hiss sleeps in my wife's arms since he got home (today). He's blind in one eye so there's also probably that.

I've been doing exposure therapy by bringing the calico in her carrying cage and she just falls asleep right next to him. But when I take her out she will hiss and growl at him. I kiss her forehead and ask her why she's scared of a tiny cat and she goes quiet for a while. I'll keep doing this and she gets quieter and quieter. Eventually almost falling asleep. But then she wakes up enough to realize there's a new cat and gets means again. It worries my wife greatly so I thought I'd seek advice. Thank you!
