My dog, Princess, is a super sweet jack russel mix and my boyfriend and I adopted her from his family members. Before us she lived outside and received little attention, and now she is a bit spoiled and very loved. Princess is super friendly to other people and loves interacting with people, however she is aggressive towards other dogs. My boyfriend and I assume it's because of her lack of interaction with them, but we really don't know. She seems protective of us, when we take her to the dog park she will run and play and occasionally allow other dogs to sniff her but only if they are not near us. If they are near us she will snap at them. So we thought the solution was to stay away while she was near other dogs, but she attacked a teeng tint chihuahua that wasn't anywhere near us. She went directly for the throat and it was so shocking because the whole outing she had done so well. We haven't taken her out since then but we don't want to give up! I want to socialize her, but I'm not willing to put other dogs safety at risk. I'm wondering if I should put a basket muzzle on her and try that, but I don't want to cause her more stress and frustration. Please, I would LOVE any advice anyone could give me!
