My husband and I have a two year old, 85 lb. pit bull/mastiff that we got when she was 8 weeks old. We had her for over a year before our son was born. When we brought our son home, she was initially very interested and loving with him. As I stayed home on maternity leave, I think she was a bit jealous of the baby, but had never shown any aggressive or scary behavior. Now our son is 18 months and walking/running around, and you would not believe how scared our dog is. She runs away from him and will tremble if he approaches too quickly. Our dog is well fed, well loved, taken out and exercised often. She goes on walks with other doggies, she sleeps in our bed at night, and is otherwise very well-behaved. Has anyone else ever experienced this kind of behavior shift with their dog and child/children?
