My parents decided to get a mat for my cat, because we were tired of having to clean up the litter she would push out of the litter box as she did her business. The problem is that the mat is clearly stressing out my cat, she hasn't ever seen it before, so she's been pretty much marking it over and over again. However, this is a consistent tiresome problem with her in general, and I can't get her anything nice (like a bed, scratching post, or cat tower) because she prefers to just mark anything she's unfamiliar with, I don't understand how other cat owners do it, am I missing some important cat owning knowledge?
Thanks, I'm probably stupid for asking this question and probably offended a few people because of my sheer ineptitude, but my parents aren't of any help and are being pretty harsh about the whole situation...
