Lost on what to do while waiting for the vet to open.

My dog (6yrs old) woke me up at 5am crying, very high pitch desperate whining. I can't find anything wrong with her and her vet is closed today so I have to wait for the emergency vet to open at 8am.

She has been doing this lately. Never this bad though, it seems to mostly only happen at night. And she has always slept in our room with us (my husband, our 2 toddlers and myself) She never has issues going for walks, playing with my grandma's dog, playing with the kids or even wrestling with us. I thought it was anxiety at first, someone tried getting into our home a couple weeks ago, but this sounds like she's in pain.

A few days ago I took her to the vet for constant scratching/rubbing on everything. I mentioned the crying but they didn't say much about that. They said her back paw is close to being infected and she must be licking or biting at it when we aren't paying attention. They started her on allergy pills.

Her back paw is still red, but when I tried messing with it she didn't react. So I'm not sure if she was biting at it while I was asleep or if it's something else.

She is laying on top of me, all 50lbs of her lol, and it seemed to make her stop for the most part. But she still starts yelping every now and then.

She was done all day, she ran around with my grandmas dog when we went to visit, she sat in the car while we drove around and then sat with us outside while we watched a firework show and got some love from the other people there.

She has to be doing something at night that is hurting her. I really don't want to go to the emergency vet with the state of our finances right now and now much extra they charge, but I don't know what else to do, something is going on with her.
