My 14 year old cat has cancer. What do I do now?

(Sorry if formatting is weird, on a cell phone)

13 years ago, on one of my parents weekly walks around the neighborhood, they passed by this black cat with little white feet. My dad gave her a few pets and they went on their way. In that moment though, that cat chose my parents and followed them all the way home. My mom however is really allergic so she didn’t let her in. We cracked our garage door for nights so she could stay in there, and supplied her with food and water. Until one night it was so cold and rainy, 10 year old me begged my parents to let her in and of course they gave in. She quickly learned to use our doggy door after that, and she’s been mine ever since. She’s had to deal with some annoying dogs in her life, but I’d like to think she lived a pretty good one. She certainly ruled our neighborhood in her prime.

Socks is now about 14 years old and she’s certainly slowed down. She’s taken up permanent residence in my room, as I’ve moved out, but we still have heavy petting sessions weekly. We found a pretty large round lump under one of her nipples the other day. It was definitely different from the others, and it had a greenish-yellow growth coming out of it. We’re pretty sure she has cancer. I don’t know where to go from here and I’d really appreciate some help. I know we don’t have the resources to fix it, so do I just do nothing? I don’t want her to be in pain, but I can tell she still has so much life in her. I’m scared if I take her to the vet immediately, I’ll just have to put her down and say goodbye tomorrow. I’m not ready for that. I don’t think she is either, but what do I know? I’d appreciate any advice or words of wisdom you have.
