Okay, so I'm a college student and I sometimes come home over break. My cats around 6-7 years old (we got him when i was in 7th grade). When two of my sisters were home, my cat perfered them over me but was never really picky about people. He'd play with all of us, he doesn't bite or hiss unless he is clearly very scared and even if you pet him too much he will give you a little bite to make you stop but then lick you after. He's a great cat and loves to be held. A few years ago after my two sister moved out, he became pretty attached to me. He would cry at me everytime I got home (even if I was only gone like 10min) and demand to be held. I legit have to hold him like a baby and he constantly has to rub his face all over mine when I pick him up. He follows me around the house and even sits outside the door when I shower or go to the bathroom.
As you can see, he's a very affectionate cat. However, recently he has definilty taken it to the extreme.
After I went to college, he started being a weirdo. He would always sleep with me when i was home for break, which isn't weird, but when my mom would come in in the mornings (like 5-6am) to ask me something or to tell me something, my cat would literally push her away from me. He would headbutt her hand and would meow at her whenever she came near me. I would of course wake up to the racket and try and push him away but he is always determined to keep her away from me. Continuously pushing her hands away whenever she reaches for me. On one memorable occasion, he was downstairs and heard my mom come into my room and raced upstairs to push her away.
My moms not really hurt about it, she thinks it's pretty funny, plus shes a little allergic to cats so it's no biggie to her. But my cat has never done that to anyone else besides her. He also didnt start doing it until after I started college. its not really a big deal, I laugh about it a lot. I just really want to know why he does it??? I mean it's not like he doesnt also wake me up in the morning demanding pets and he lets other people wake me up. Plus I love my mom, we never fight and we have a great relationship so I dont know why it is just her he wont let come near me. He also only doe it in the mornings, any other time of day, he doesnt care.
Someone who knows cats better then I do explain please I'm dying to know what my cat is thinking.😁
